Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will gain an additional 3% of the previous damage for each time it is upgraded.

Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment with a slot. The Best item upgrader must be upgraded to a blue level before a component can be used.
